August 27, 2025: The U.S. Justice Department has launched an investigation of Cal EPA and the California Air Resources Board. DOJ intends to investigate whether they have “engaged in a pattern or practice of discrimination based on race, color, sex, and national origin” in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act." July 31, 2025 – A partnership between the California Fire Safe Council and CAL FIRE will provide $9.5 million for the Wildfire County Coordinator Program, which will fund coordinators in 47 California Counties. The coordinators will help help to build local resilience and serve as a bridge between local efforts and statewide policies and programs.

August 6, 2025: The Governor announces $200 to support communities affected by the Delta Conveyance Project, which builds a single tunnel to convey water from the Delta to the State Water Project. Advocates of the project argue that have benefits related to drought, floods, and earthquakes, while opponents argue that it will have significant environmental and community impacts. The $200 million supports communities affected by the construction.
