Wildfire Bills Advance in Congress

As reported by Erich Wagner in Government Executive ("Senate Bill Aims to Streamline How Agencies Respond to Wildfires"), two bipartisan bills addressing wildfire risks are advancing in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.  Both bills are responses to recommendations made by the Wildland Fire Mitigation and Mitigation Commission.  The House bill focuses on training and benefits for wildland firefighters and the Senate bill focuses on Federal aid to states and on risk mitigation.
